FINANCE & ACCOUNTING

What does someone in Finance or Accounting do on a daily basis? The answer varies depending on the specific role and responsibilities of the position an individual finds themselves in but at P97 there are a number of tasks and functions our department is responsible for.

P97 Finance/Accounting team members engage in entity level controls, financial reporting, revenue recognition, cost management, budgeting and forecasting, cash management, and audit compliance. This list is non-exhaustive but hopefully provides a high-level summary of the majority of our team functions. We also have a Finance Transformation Project Manager who collaborates closely with our team and other departments to help P97 work better, faster, and smarter by researching and implementing new software, automating manual processes, and creating key reporting to help support management decision-making.

BUSINESS ANALYST

As a Business Analyst at P97, my role within the project services team is diverse and fulfilling. At P97, being a Business Analyst is an exceptional experience that stands out among my previous roles in this field. 

WHAT I DO AT P97 NETWORKS

I collaborate closely with customers to ensure the best product implementation experience. My tasks include gathering technical requirements, deriving business insights, and managing project plans for timely delivery. I've played a crucial role in planning and implementing projects for our largest customers by deeply understanding their needs and providing innovative solutions.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
QUALITY ASSURANCE

At P97 Networks, the Quality Assurance team starts off the day with a Daily Standup Meeting to discuss important tasks, ticket priority, team statuses, and upcoming projects. The Standup serves as a daily alignment and sets the stage for the rest of the day.

Our main purpose at P97 Networks is to test Apps and our Cloud Platform that enable Mobile Payment functionality for Retail and Convenience store Companies. To simulate real world use cases, the Quality Assurance team spends time in the Houston office utilizing Point of Sales systems. These machines are set up to process transactions as if you were at a real Gas Station. In our testing process, the tester acts as both the App User and Gas Station Clerk. Conducting transactions from this perspective gives the tester a broad understanding of what goes on behind the scenes during a purchase and fueling at a Gas Station.

P97 resides in a LEED certified building, occupying approximately 24,000 quare feet and housing approximately 110 employees. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Available for all building types, LEED provides a framework for healthy, efficient, and cost-saving green buildings. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement and leadership.
CLIMATE POLICY
We reside in a LEED certified space. We support customers who provide Electric Vehicle Charging with over 200,000 charge points in the EU as well as Transcontinental charging in North America. We support the Hydrogen fueling industry as well as traditional hydrocarbon-based fuels.
SUPPLIERS AND CUSTOMERS CARBON REDUCTION PROGRAM
Our program includes support of EV charging and Hydrogen fuelling for vehicles in US, Canada, and EU.

MARKETING INTERN

As the only Marketing Intern at P97 Networks, I am one of the main people solely responsible for implementing strategies that will improve the brand image of P97, and therefore generate more sales. My main project throughout my time at P97 was to revitalize the social media presence of some of the leadership team here at P97.

WHAT I DO AT P97 NETWORKS

During my tenure at P97, my primary focus was managing the LinkedIn content calendar, but in addition to tasks like researching content, drafting posts, and collaborating with team members, I undertook various smaller projects. One of these projects involved creating a KPI tree to break down critical revenue-generating KPIs, along with tracking the performance of our LinkedIn posts and making a rough estimate of marketing ROI using hypothetical figures. I also contributed to the design of slide decks highlighting the significance of marketing and sales collateral and collaborated on a presentation about the top website visitor tracking companies.

WHAT I'VE GAINED FROM WORKING AT P97 NETWORKS

One of the valuable experiences I gained during this internship was the opportunity to work with professionals on the Leadership Team. Though those interactions, I was able to acquired a wealth of knowledge about the mobile payments industry, laying a solid foundation for my future career.
